Installation Steps

Installation steps include removing the old cladding, installing a waterproof membrane, laying the metal and installing ventilated ridges for optimum ventilation.

Installation

Installation Steps

STEP 1:
Removal of old coating

It is imperative to remove the old coating in order to carry out a thorough inspection of the plywood surface to detect possible water infiltration.

STEP 2:
Installation of a waterproof membrane and opening of the gable for ventilation

This step should never be underestimated, especially in view of our harsh Quebec winters. Metal tends to generate condensation. We strongly recommend that all our customers install a self-adhesive membrane for optimum protection.

Creating an opening of at least 3" will allow the ventilation ridge cap to be installed later, ensuring maximum attic ventilation.

STEP 3 (optional):
Double lathing

Double lathing is required for roofs with a minimum pitch of 8/12 or more, as well as for those showing signs of weakness, whether in terms of plywood strength or the presence of waves across the entire surface. This is the best way to correct these irregularities.

STEP 4:
Metal roofing installation

By installing starter moldings, wall finishes and ends before the panels, we avoid any risk of subsequent damage requiring further intervention.

FINAL STEP:
Ventilated ridge installation

Ensuring good ventilation of the attic is crucial to prevent condensation problems. We start by installing the safety net that allows air circulation, then we proceed to the installation of ventilated ridges.
